As the wind blows across Las Vegas and the visions come alive, we can appreciate the many facets of life, which make Las Vegas such a multifaceted city. Ramon Parmenter, world-renowned sculptor and painter, is part of those visions. A gentle soul who finds his tranquility in Oregon, Parmenter enjoys visiting Las Vegas. Ramon shared some of the inner feelings of his world. "Soothing Escapes," a painting of a lovely lady sitting in a bathtub gives the art lover one aspect of Parmenter's works. The painting alludes to a woman who is tired and finds a relaxing moment to take a bath. Within the context of the painting, there's a window in the background, displaying the mountains. "You can see the colorizations of this painting. It sets the mood which creates the thoughts, while the natural light changes the painting," states Parmenter. The window, according to some art lovers, represents freedom. Perhaps it represented freedom to the lady in the painting. Parmenter says his bronze sculptures are more difficult and harder to capture the essence of the child or woman at that moment. "The Gift" is a sculpture piece, which shows the child giving a gift of flowers to her parents. "It's a difficult medium because it's in the round and there's a 360-degree view to deal with. It takes more forethought to bring the sculpture to life", states Parmenter. Paintings form another point of view; hence comes color, hue, and contrast which requires greater awareness. "It's a monumental job to deal with two different animals within the same art world," he states, referring to paintings and sculptures. Ramon Parmenter started his sculptures with Athletic West, Nike's training center for Olympic hopefuls. Included in his works are Melanie Smith, Bart Conners, Alberto Selzar, and Mary Decker to name a few. So where does the talent of Ramon Parmenter go to pass the emotion on from a sculptor through the stroke of a brush? It could possibly cover the realm of all variations we've mentioned, with music being a totally new level. There is, however, a message behind it all called harmony. "By creating a sculpture or a painting, we as artists can take the art lover to a more tranquil transition. That in itself creates harmony between people. In essence we lift up a person's spirit, bringing out the best in them by the works we create."		The newest creation of Parmenter is entitled "Shear Delight." It is modeled by Amber Ray Curtis, and portrays a woman caught up in the wind with her body and soul. His signature pieces are identified by looking at the sculpture's eye cavity. The eye has a dot, representing light that bounces off the eye. Parmenter's works are in major museums worldwide, and are collected by such notables as Wayne Newton.
