Social Register Scene

By: Kristine Lea

This lavish event was held at the spectacular Turnberry Place penthouse suite of Social Register members Frances and Mac Macdonald. The evening began with two lavishly dressed showgirls escorting Curtis up to the penthouse suite where a fabulous tribute had been planned toasting the celebrated actor for the abundance of threatrical, artistic and philanthropic contributions he has made through the years. An elegant VIP champagne reception kicked off the evening with white glove-passed champagne and hors d'oeuvres. During his tribute, Curtis was presented with the Key to the City of Las Vegas and a Proclamation from Nevada Governor Kenny Guinn. A particularly exciting facet of the evening was the unique opportunity to personally meet and have photographs taken with renowned actor and artist Tony Curtis. Additional highlights of the event included an elaborate gourmet cuisine created by Executive Chef Robert Gartz, the hilarious anties of fremont street Experience mime performers, outrageous caricatures drawn of members and their guests by gifted artist Ken McDonald, the incredible vocal stylings of Kathy LaMar, and a live auction, which raised more then $15,000 for the Foundation for Positively Kids charity.

The Foundation for Positively Kids is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization in Las Vegas that is proud to have acclaimed actor Tony Curtis graciously serving as its national spokesperson.
