Las Vegas Art Scene

Artists, photographers and architects show off
their loftily designed environments...

By Audrey Roberts

Several years ago, a story boasting of art in Las Vegas could not have been written. However, we have recently been able to catch up with the cultural standards of the well-known Mecca’s of San Francisco and New York. The community is experiencing a very serious "ART ATTACK."
When international celebrity artists such as Anthony Quinn launch their largest exhibitions here in Las Vegas, a major attraction in itself, many new art venues will follow. All that is needed now is the bus route to find them. Throughout the city are spread several very architectural and cultural sites worth visiting.
Las VegasThe tour starts downtown with the ARTS FACTORY, a New York, Soho-styled building that houses the creative pulse of the city. Artists, photographers and architects show off their loftily designed environments. This is a great place to meet and chat with the artists, while they create.
Las VegasThe two main attractions, which are non-profit organizations responsible for exposing emerging artists and art students, are the Contemporary Art Collective and NICA, Nevada Institute for Contemporary Art. The George Sturman Gallery houses a great variety of 20th century masters, commercial, and an extensive collection of African art.
Las VegasA short ride down Las Vegas Boulevard is the Lied Discovery Children’s Museum, one of the largest internationally recognized award winning cultural institutions. Kids interact in 22,000 square feet of space with arts, science, music and communications.
Las VegasThis facility encourages children to interact with adults while heightening their physical, mental and hands on skills with special programs designed to stimulate the senses and realize the joy of discovery.
