Las Vegas is much more than gambling and tourism! It has become a family-like community that truly cares. To put an exact number on how many people in this community continually and unselfishly give to others who are less fortunate is near impossible.
Las VegasThe Social Register of Las Vegas takes this opportunity to personally acknowledge some of these munificent individuals. We are extremely proud to have them on our Honorary Board of Governors: Mr. Mark S. Las VegasThe Social Register is also very proud to announce two new additions to our Honorary Board of Governors: Mr. & Mrs. Sonny King and Mr. & Mrs. Barrie Larvin. They are well known not only for their professional talents, but also for their tremendously giving hearts.

Sonny & Peggy King
A renowned celebrity and entertainer, Sonny King graced the stage with Jerry Lewis, Dean Martin, Lou Perry, Jimmy Durante, Sammy Davis, Danny Thomas and Frank Sinatra, just to name a few. In addition to an endless stream of accolades, Mr. King was recently inducted into the Legends Hall of Fame of Las Vegas.

He received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his charity work and allegiance to the State of Nevada, and was named Man of the Year of Las Vegas by Senators Bryan and Reid and Representative Jim Bilbray.

Mr. & Mrs. Barrie Larvin
Barrie Larvin, Master Sommelier, joined the Rio in June 1996 to mastermind the property's renowned $10 million Wine Cellar collection. He is a major world wine buyer, particularly at auctions, and has developed worldwide training programs. Mr. Larvin was the world's youngest-ever Master Sommelier and continues to be President of the Court of Master Sommeliers. He has established relationships with wineries worldwide, and there is no doubt that he is ahead of the market. His trips this year include Australia, New Zealand, South America and Africa.
